Using social media to surprise and delight

I’ve managed to escape television advertisements for the past year, living without a paid cable subscription during this time. If word of an advertisement reaches me, it has to be viral by nature and integrated across multiple marketing touch points.

The “surprise and delight” tactic is a surefire way to lift brand affinity, deepen customer loyalty, and otherwise just make someone’s day. Other benefits include a way to differentiate the brand, offer cool perks without obligation or entitlement on behalf of the consumer, and fight the commoditization presently taking place with traditional loyalty programs.
